Hartford District 2018

Team Spirit Award

On April 6th-8th, 2018 the Wirecats traveled to the Harford District event. After 12 qualifications and alliance selection, we were invited to join teams 2067 (Apple Pi) and 2836 () for the playoffs. After two tough quarterfinal matches, we unfortunately lost but were thankful to have competed with two great teams. We then settled into the stands to watch the awards. We were lucky enough to receive the Team Spirit Award for our enthusiasm on and off of the field.

In our second competition at the Hartford District Event, the judges awarded us with the Rookie All-Star Award. The Rookie All-Star is described as a rookie team "exemplifying a young but strong partnership effort, as well as implementing the mission of FIRST to inspire students to learn more about science and technology." We received this award because of our work with FLL and making robotics co-curricular in the form of a two-week class at the start of build season. The judges commended our passion for involving girls in STEM within both our school and the local community.
